A new boating centre could be set up in Ludlow for families and tourists visiting the River Teme.

Ludlow Town Council has 10 unused aluminium boats which it wants to introduce at Linney riverside park, which is undergoing a £100,000 revamp.

Town clerk Veronica Calderbank said: "We have these boats and we now just want someone to come forward to help us run them as a franchise. Anyone who is interested should get in touch."

The town council hopes a new floating pontoon at the site will become a jetty for the boats business.

Work on the restoration of the riverside beauty spot is due to start within a fortnight, after project leaders secured £50,000 lottery funding on Friday.

The area will be closed while work takes place but it is hoped play equipment and other facilities will be in place by August.

Anyone interested in starting a boating business at the Linney park can contact the council on (01584) 838010.
