A village that is actually larger than some of the region's towns, Leintwardine is officially in Herefordshire despite being just to the west of Ludlow. The settlement has Roman origins, with the fort of Branogenium just south of the modern village and its High Street on the same line as the country-spanning Roman road, Watling Street.
