Shrewsbury flood barriers going up as alerts issued for Shropshire and Mid Wales
Flood alerts have been issued for the entire River Severn through Shropshire as heavy rain continues to fall across the county and in Wales.
Tenbury sits on the banks of the river Teme and right on the south Shropshire border - in fact its suburb Burford, linked to the town by a bridge, is officially in Shropshire, while Tenbury itself is in the Malvern Hills District of Worcestershire. The town prides itself as being the mistletoe capitol of England, as the region is rich in apple orchards where the plant grows, and people come all over each year for festive auctions.
