Shropshire internet sensation Curious George a real jet-setter

[gallery] He's just a few inches tall and distinctly soft in the middle – but that hasn't stopped Curious George enjoying a jet-set lifestyle most of us can only dream of.

The cuddly toy monkey has been snapped globetrotting with his Shropshire owner, making him something of an internet sensation.

Pamela Lin, 31, has been taking holiday snaps of her furry friend Curious George on their around the world adventures.

The pair have travelled together for more than five years building up an impressive photo album.

From Sydney to Singapore, London and all across America the cuddly companion has been sightseeing at the most famous tourist attractions on the planet.

George has been snapped hanging out at the Sydney Harbour Bridge, drinking beer in Germany, posing for pictures on the River Thames and in the cat cafes of Tokyo.

He has enjoyed a cruise on the River Thames in London, sat on the Apollo test capsule in Arizona and hit the slopes of Austria.

His travels are documented on his personal Facebook page called Curious George The Adventurer.

His latest snaps show him winning a kiss from a cuddly toy of a Chinese girl in San Diego and melting in the Los Angeles heatwave.

He is often pictured with his favourite tipple, a cold glass of beer.

George began his extravagant voyages in 2008 and is showing no signs of slowing down, with trips to New York and further afield on the horizon.

Photographer Pamela is originally from the Telford area and still has family here, but has now settled in Los Angeles in California, USA.

She said: "It began as something for fun for me – to take interesting photos.

"I do a lot of travelling so it was just an idea to help pass the time one day and it just grew from there. Every time I went somewhere, I'd bring George too.

"He gets taken everywhere I go now – some friends have even asked if they can take him on holiday with them, too, as he has become such a celebrity.

"The furthest he has been with me is to Australia and the most unusual was definitely the cat cafe in Japan, where the owner has loads of cats and you can have tea and play with them.

"Apartments are very small there so people can't have pets – this is the best alternative for people. The cats were really interested in George.

"We don't have any big trips planned for the rest of the year but we will be heading to New York and Portland in the next few months."

The cheeky chimp began life as a character in a children's storybook and was taken to the hearts of pupils in America when he was turned into a cuddly toy.

Pamela says she is happy with her new life in the US, but still misses Shropshire. She has posted a selection of pictures from Telford and Bridgnorth online.

She said: "The clouds in Shropshire are heavenly. I really miss them now I am in Los Angeles."
