It's not often that we get to visit Carno in 'Pictures From The Past', so let's grab this chance.

The building on the right with a hanging sign is the Aleppo Merchant Hotel, and the sign has a picture of a ship, which gives a clue to the origin of this unusual name.
According to the website of the Aleppo Merchant Inn, as it is now called - although it is still a hotel too - it gained its title from the retired sea captain of a ship of the same name.
