The Little Theatre in Donnington will host performances of Singin’ in the Rain next month. The cast has been rehearsing for the production since the end of June and is excited for the upcoming shows between November 2 and 4.

Director Vikki Lee said: “This has been such an enjoyable few months as not only have the 28 people in the cast had such fun rehearsing on the stage, we have also been on location to shoot a couple of black and white movies which will be shown as part of the production.

“Luckily one of our cast members is a budding film maker and has produced some brilliantly funny films which we hope the audiences will enjoy.”

The original Hollywood film stars Gene Kelly, Debbie Reynolds and Donald O’ Connor, featuring songs including Make ‘em Laugh, Good Morning and Singin’ in the Rain.

The theatre is hoping to recreate the magic of the movie, including the infamous rain scene.

Ms Lee said: “We have an ingenious way of making it rain without getting wet.

“It took a lot of time to create the effect, but we hope that audiences like it.”

The shows start at 7.30pm.

Tickets cost £9 and are available from www.littletheatredonnington.co.uk

Earlier this year, The Little Theatre benefited from Shropshire Star’s Cash for your Community scheme, enabling the theatre to refurbish its toilet facilities.

Ms Lee added: “‘We would love to welcome Shropshire Star readers who supported us in the Cash in your Community scheme so they can see what they have contributed towards.”

The theatre also recently raised £1,000 for the Princess Royal Hospital breast cancer research fund.

The money was raised by theatre members and audience donations at performances of its play Cheshire Cats.
