But Ilkeston boss Nigel Jemson, the former Shrewsbury Town striker, is the only man to have made any move to sign the ex-Kidderminster Harriers No 1.

"I've had a phone call from Ilkeston, who are looking at getting him in on loan for the season," Smith revealed.

"I think they've spoken to him, but I'm not sure he's interested in going to them. Nigel Jemson has spoken to Stuart, but I don't think he's got back to them yet.

"We've had no further interest really, and that has surprised me. I don't know if people think they will have to pay a big fee foe him."

Memories

Meanwhile, Smith admitted he was surprised to learn of the fate of Boston United, who have been demoted from League 2 straight into Telford's league - the Blue Square North - following the AGM for the Blue Square Premier, North and South over the weekend.

"It shows just how strong the league is going to be," said Smith. "I haven't got great memories of Boston either - I played there in the quarter-finals of the FA Trophy for Redditch and lost.

"It's another big club and it shows the enormity of our task. What has happened to them shows just how well-run this club is now."

Another issue on the agenda at the AGM was the league's television deal with Irish-based broadcaster Setanta, which will see a number of games screened live on the subscription channel next season.

"There's a good chance we'll get a game shown as we get the best gates in the division," said vice-chairman Wyn Pryce, who attended the meeting with club secretary Sharon Lawley.

"We're going to contact Setanta and get them down here to talk to us."
