Conor Coady's relief at long-awaited Wolves win
Conor Coady breathed a sigh of relief after Wolves finally won a match and said: "Let's climb the table now."
A 2-1 victory at QPR last week was Wolves' first victory since September.
Defeat would have dropped them into the bottom three but boss Paul Lambert, who oversaw his first victory in charge, wants to start looking up the table rather than down.
And that's a notion Coady, who has started Wolves' last five games, agrees with.
"For us it's about carrying on improving week after week and see where it can take us," he said.
"We showed a bit of character. The gaffer's been here a few weeks now and we've been trying to take his ideas on board.
"Hopefully we're improving as a team. I think we showed on Thursday that we're trying to take his ideas on board and improve.
"We just need to carry on doing that and hopefully it takes us up the table.
"I was feeling optimistic before the game anyway – it's a massive club full of great players."
Wolves certainly made themselves work for the victory, spurning a host of chances before conceding in the 90th minute and then enduring nine minutes of injury time.
Coady admitted: "We don't half do it the hard way!
"But it was needed – it's a massive relief to get that win.
"We were kicking ourselves a little bit. It should have been three, four or five but I know Alex Smithies from when he was at Huddersfield and he's a top keeper and made some good saves.
"We should have put them to the sword but it's a well deserved victory at the end.
"We wanted a clean sheet big time, for everybody, we thought the lads deserved it.
"The goal was sloppy from our point of view but we can take the positives out of it. It was three big points away from home.
"I thought the boys played well, even when they had 11 men we were right in the game, created that chance for Helder Costa and we really deserved it – it should have been more."
