Benik Afobe backed for Wolves future
Benched Wolves star Benik Afobe has been praised for his professionalism by boss Kenny Jackett – who revealed no club has made an inquiry to buy the striker.
Afobe has been on the bench for the last two matches with Adam Le Fondre preferred up front.
That has stoked speculation that the 22-year-old is set to leave Molineux in January, but Jackett insists no discussions had taken place over the player's future.
He said: "There have been no offers or approaches from any clubs. Until that happens, nothing happens.
"Should it build up like last time (in the summer) we'll have to see. As it stands there's nobody making any inquiries, it's all quiet on that front.
"No we haven't had any conversations on Benik, other than on making sure he scores goals and plays well.
"In terms of anybody coming in for him, if and when it happens we'll discuss it then."
Premier League strugglers Norwich City lodged three bids for Afobe in the summer, the highest being £10million.
And Steve McClaren's Newcastle United are also believed to have closely tracked the striker, who was the country's joint-top goalscorer with 32 strikes last season.
His form this campaign hasn't been as prolific with Afobe scoring eight in 22 appearances.
Despite being surprisingly dropped, Jackett insists Afobe had shown an exemplary attitude in training.
The Wolves boss said: "He hasn't thrown his toys out of the pram at all. He's been working hard, again trained hard and well, and scored goals in training which is good.
"We want him to really push now and get back. I thought it was the right thing with the Rotherham team selection and then obviously followed it through (against Forest)."
