Kevin McDonald's Wolves talks stall
Contract talks between Wolves and midfielder Kevin McDonald have stalled once again.
There is no agreement in sight between the club and McDonald and his agent, so the issue has been put on the back burner.
The two parties are still way off reaching a compromise, with Wolves feeling their offer was more than reasonable.
But McDonald believes the offer doesn't represent his value to the team and so stalemate has ensued.
However, head coach Kenny Jackett insists the midfielder is ready to return to pre-season action, after leaving him out of last weekend's win over Burton Albion.
McDonald was too 'unsettled' to feature at the Pirelli Stadium, but is in the squad for tomorrow's trip to face Shrewsbury Town.
Jackett said: "We've both agreed that through this week and the next games we make sure he's ready and contributes to the team, because the team does need him.
"He's in a better frame of mind, he knows where he is in terms of the situation. He still has a year left and he's a Wolves player and is committed to doing very well for us."
Fulham have had two bids of around £1million for McDonald rejected and Jackett has already admitted the Scot could run his contract down and leave on a free.
He said: "The priority is now the football. Yes, we'd all like Kevin McDonald to sign and then to push on. It's not the case right at this moment and we all accept that, including Kevin.
"He feels now he wants to play in the games and he wants to get match fit and help the team."
And of McDonald's mental state, the Wolves boss said: "He's saying the right things, so that's a good sign. The proof will be in the pudding as the games start, but he's determined to play."
Lee Evans played in McDonald's place against Burton but Jackett said the Welsh youngster was still available for loan.
He added that no offer had yet been received for the 20-year-old's temporary services next season.
