Kenny Jackett hopeful of the play-offs
Boss Kenny Jackett believes Wolves would be 'very unlucky' not to make the play-offs now after taking their top six charge to the final day.
The 1-0 victory at Wigan means Wolves need to beat Millwall at Molineux on Saturday, better Brentford's result at home to Wigan and hope Derby lose at home to Reading to sneak into the play-offs.
No team has needed more than 76 to get into the second tier top six in a 46-game season, meaning if Wolves win they could make history as the highest points total to fail to make the play-offs on 78.
Wolves' tally of 75 points has only been been bettered by the last team in the play-off positions five times in the 26 years of the current format.
And Jackett believes they will be unfortunate to miss out now, saying: "If we win and 78 points doesn't get us into the top six, we'll be very unlucky.
"But we have to make sure we do our job because we have still an opportunity and that has to be our focus in front of our own fans.
"It's exciting to still be in it with a good points total but we need to put on another good performance against Millwall."
Derby have won just two in 12 but 19th-placed Reading have gone seven without a victory.
Brentford, whose 2-0 win at the Madejski Stadium ended a five-match wait for three points, have a goal difference of four better than Wolves.
Millwall need to win to have any chance of staying up and Jackett admits it's ironic their last-day opponents are his former club, who he fought so hard for in the Championship.
He said: "I didn't know their situation, because I'd been looking at the permutations at the top."
