Wolves' star man Kevin McDonald ready to get physical
Player of the Year Kevin McDonald believes Wolves will be primed and ready for the Championship's gruelling physical demands next season.
The team's chief playmaker is confident head coach Kenny Jackett's attention to detail will leave nothing to chance in the League One champions' bid for a major impact in the second tier.
Jackett has made the players' conditioning and fitness a key feature of his regime but acknowledges last season's record-breakers will be bidding for a repeat against much more testing opposition. McDonaldis already relishing the challenge.
"Everyone wants to play at the top level and to do so they have to do everything they possibly can do physically to get there," he said.
"The manager and the fitness coach and physios are on at us to keep our conditioning right and we have a great set-up here, we're at one of the best clubs to take benefit of that. We're all in good condition and I think the manager just wants a bit more from us.
"This is a chance to play at the highest level and I think I'm at the right club to do it. When I signed it was a big decision for me but I'm so glad I made it now.
"I'm still young and have my best years ahead of me, so hopefully I can perform at the same levels as I have done this season."
McDonald knows he will be a marked man next season. But having already featured in Burnley's first ascent to the Premier League, the 25-year-old reckons he is much better prepared. He added: "I'm so excited by it and just buzzing to play there again."
"We've got to work hard over the summer and then hopefully hit the ground running.
"When I was at Burnley, we got promoted through the play-offs and that was unexpected.
"It was a great experience playing in that league then but I was very young."
