Kenny Jackett tells Wolves to expect a bashing against Port Vale

Kenny Jackett today warned Wolves to expect another bashing when Port Vale come to town tomorrow.

Wolves – and Bakary Sako in particular – were victims of the rough stuff in their 3-0 win at Brentford last Saturday. Tomorrow's Staffordshire derby is likely to be accompanied by an aerial bombardment into Wolves box.

And Jackett has told his players what to expect from Micky Adams's uncompromising side after they emerged with a 3-1 win at Vale Park in August.

"It was a feisty game up there, and Port Vale have a lot of crossing ability – they put the ball into the box and get bodies in there," said head coach Jackett.

"That sounds very simplistic but they're very good at it.

"They're always competitive and well organised, as you'd expect from such an experienced manager who's done well wherever he's been."

More than 2,000 Vale fans are expected to swell the crowd to around 23,000 and Port Vale's assistant manager – boyhood Wolves nut Mark Grew – urged fans not to cause trouble after 34 arrests at the game in August.

He said: "With the ill feeling that happened after the game, I just hope people are sensible and react in the right way and go for the football, rather than to cause trouble. I thought those days were gone, but you still get the small element that want to cause problems, but the majority of our away fans are superb."

Grew added: "I was born there and have followed them all of my life, so it's great. You want them to get promoted, but I'd love to get three points and upset a few of my mates.

"I've been there three or four times this season and I think teams have shown them far too much respect and laid off them."

Meanwhile, Jackett hinted at an unchanged team for the third successive game as Wolves hunt a seventh straight win.

"The team is in a good rhythm and long may it continue," he said.
