Leigh Griffiths is hoping his two-goal man of the match showing for Wolves on Saturday has clinched a start against England at Wembley.

The Scottish international, fresh from his thrilling curtain-raiser at Molineux, is now preparing for another huge date in his blossoming career.

Griffiths played in his nation's morale-boosting 1-0 win in Croatia which sends Gordon Strachan's team into tomorrow night's prestige friendly in confident mood.

"I was delighted to get called up," he said. "Playing for Scotland against England at Wembley is probably the biggest game Scotland could have.

"I started against Croatia and it would be great to keep my place but if not, I'll be happy to sit on the bench and hopefully get on and play my part.

"I was hoping Mr Strachan would have been there on Saturday but either way, he'll know I've scored two goals and hopefully I'll be in the team, but if not, I hope to play some part.

"Scotland-England games don't come along too often but when they do, they're always special and hopefully I can play in it. It's going to be tough – England aren't in the top 10 in the world for no reason.

"But we'll take great confidence from winning in Croatia which not many teams will do, and hopefully we can put on a good performance at Wembley.

"Scotland have a lot of good strikers so it's just a case of seeing if I can do well in training to force my way into the team."

Griffiths admits that he has taken his international inspiration from a Wolves striker of a previous vintage. He adds:

"When I've watched Scotland I've always tended to watch the strikers and Kenny Miller has been a player I've enjoyed seeing."

Meanwhile, Wolves are focusing on their development squad with signs of their growing interest in the foreign market.

Young Aussie striker Patrick Antelmi started a week-long trial with the Under-21 group this week while Wolves are also in competition with other clubs to take on Barcelona B team prospect, 17-year-old Albert Torras.

But Kevin Thelwell, Molineux's head of football and recruitment, cautioned fans that both players are seen as future prospects.
