Patrick Weiser flies in as Wolves head coach

The 40-year-old has been appointed head coach to Norwegian boss Stale Solbakken with Danish coach Johan Lange elevated to Molineux assistant manager.

Weiser arrived from Germany earlier today and was introduced to the players at Compton before they travelled to tomorrow's Championship clash at Huddersfield.

Former Cologne assistant manager Weiser replaces Terry Connor, who left at the start of last month after 13 years at the club.

Weiser becomes Solbakken's second backroom appointment after Lange, who was initially given the title of first-team coach.

The new head coach watched the 1-0 win at Blackburn 13 days ago and is well-known to Solbakken, having been promoted by him at the Bundesliga club last season.

Weiser worked with Solbakken from July 2011 to last April when the Norwegian was sacked.

Before that he was youth team coach for two years with the German club, where he also served as a defender or midfielder from 1991-97 and 2005-07.

Solbakken said: "He's someone I worked closely at Cologne last year.

"I like his way of coaching and I like his way of treating people – he was one of the few people who stayed steady and loyal in good and bad days.

"He's hardworking and didn't get involved in the politics. Patrick's not just a good coach but a very good human being too. He knows how we work and what I expect from him."

Wolves today confirmed several changes to their medical staff. First-team physio Phil Hayward is nowhead of the medical department after Steve Kemp became elite football physio at the FA's new National Centre at Burton.

Carl Howarth is the new first-team physio and Jazz Sodhi now heads the medical department for the development and academy squads.
