A bumper six-figure sponsorship deal could lead to new signings on the pitch for Welsh Premier League champions the New Saints.

Ian Williams, the club's chief operating officer, has confirmed a deal with Shropshire-based internet service provider Planet Hippo Internet.

It could lead to player arrivals when the transfer window opens in January. The three-season deal, estimated to be worth £300,000, was announced yesterday.

And Williams insisted it is good news for the club both on and off the pitch, saying: "As a club we are very pleased to announce this sponsorship deal which will significantly boost the club's finances.

"This money allows the club to focus on lots of areas on and off the field. The transfer window is closed at the moment but it may help us attract players in January."

Fans will hope the cash will lead to continued success, with the New Saints currently aiming for their fourth Welsh Premier League title in a row.

Craig Harrison's side have also impressed in the Champions League, after two spirited displays ended in heartbreak when they lost to Slovakian champions Slovan Bratislava in the second qualifying round in July.

Williams hopes the deal with Plant Hippo will help the club attract new fans, saying: "It could enable us to reach an even wider fan base.

"The New Saints are currently experiencing massive growth on a number of social media platforms."

Darren Lavendar, managing director of Planet Hippo, was equally pleased with the deal.

He said: "We wanted to partner with a championship winning football club as part of our ongoing marketing strategy.

"We felt that the New Saints would help to grow our business at a fraction of a price of an English league club."
