The pair, who both came through Shrewsbury Town's academy, prepare to go head to head against each other tomorrow afternoon as England take on Wales in Euro 2016 at Lens.

Town boss Mellon believes Manchester City and England keeper Hart and Wolves and Wales midfielder Edwards have done the club and town proud.

Mellon said: "I think it does (act as inspiration) and it should do for anyone from Shrewsbury.

"The town and the club should be very proud of its success stories and those two guys have done magnificently.

"We have their pictures on the wall here because we want anyone that comes to the club to know that's what we've produced and we're very proud of them.

"These people have walked around the streets of Shrewsbury and all of a sudden, we're going to be watching them in one of the biggest tournaments in the world. It's terrific and we're so happy for them."

Mellon believes it's testament to the pair's work ethic that they are parading their talents on one of the biggest stages of all.

The Scot said: "These guys live for the moments like being in the Euros and make the sacrifices that need to be made to do that.

"They don't just wake up in the morning and it's a case of 'away we go'."
