Shrewsbury Town sign ex-Fleetwood midfielder Antoni Sarcevic
Shrewsbury Town have signed former Fleetwood midfielder Antoni Sarcevic on a two-year deal.
The 24-year-old attacking midfielder, whose contract with Fleetwood finished this summer, has arrived on a free transfer and becomes Micky Mellon's fourth signing of the summer.
The Englishman scored 18 goals in 118 league appearances for the Cod Army after signing from Chester in 2013, including the long-range free-kick which won Fleetwood promotion from League Two in 2014.
And after what he described as a 'tough' first season in League One, the midfielder is excited to start his new challenge at Greenhous Meadow.
"I'm made up that it's finally done," Sarcevic told the club's website.
"As soon as I knew the interest, I just wanted to get it done and dusted.
"A massive factor for myself is to enjoy my football again.
The former Crewe player said he had received plenty of interest but was confident Town were the right choice.
"What Micky has said to me and what he wants from me was a massive thing for me to get this move done," he told shrewsburytown.com.
"It was a tough season last season and I just wanted to have a good holiday with my partner and then sit down with my agent, and there were quite a few clubs interested.
"As soon as Shrewsbury was one of them, I wanted to get it done."
Sarcevic scored three goals in Fleetwood's first League One campaign last year and the former Manchester City trainee says he is looking to add goals for Town next season.
"One (target) will hopefully be goals next year," he said.
"I missed out on a few due last season to other factors like where I was playing etc, but like I said in Micky's conversation, I want to chip in with some goals next year."
