AFC Telford United have put Mike Grogan on standby for centre-half duty as they seek a possible defensive replacement.

Boss Rob Smith is scouring the market for a centre-back, with Curtis Tilt suspended for Saturday's visit of AFC Fylde.

Telford only have one other recognised central defender – on-loan Graham Hutchison – but central midfielder Grogan can play there.

Smith is believed to have targeted someone from the National League Premier, but it depends whether the target is willing to drop down a level.

He said: "We're looking to bring someone in, but it's not easy."

Meanwhile, Telford have finally reached closure on the Danny Glover saga by mutually agreeing to cancel his contract.

The club released a statement saying: "AFC Telford United can confirm that the contract of Danny Glover has been terminated by mutual consent."

Glover was reported to the FA for playing Sunday League football on three separate occasions in August. The former Port Vale striker had been suspended by the club while an appeal was heard.

But a settlement has now been reached allowing the two parties to go their separate ways.
