Jay Denny ready to rumble for Telford
AFC Telford boss Steve Kittrick insists new signing Jay Denny can be the Bucks' midfield enforcer next season.
The 29-year-old, who is now based in Telford, became the club's third new signing of the summer close season when he was snapped up on a non-contract deal yesterday.
Denny briefly played for Shrewsbury Town in 2005-06. Kittrick said: "Denny's an experienced holding midfield player; he's played in the Conference North for a while with Worcester City and Solihull.
"He's got great experience, he will be good around the dressing room, he's a good lad and a good player.
"He keeps things simple, he wins his headers. He tackles and passes well and he is a good all-round midfield player."
Denny started at Stoke City and counts Nuneaton, Brackley, Hednesford, Halesowen and Leamington among his former clubs.
Kittrick's recruitment plans had further lifts as defender Ian Sharps and midfielder Mike Grogan agreed terms to remain at the club for next season.
Former Shrewsbury Town central defender Sharps has agreed to remain after his release from Burton Albion. He joined the Bucks on loan in February. The Baschurch-based player is also likely to take on coaching duties.
Grogan has agreed to remain for a third season having signed from Cammell Laird in September 2013.
He won club player of the season in his debut campaign as the team won the Conference North title and made 29 appearances in the Conference Premier last season.
The Bucks are also expecting to announce the signing of at least two new players this week, along with the new assistant manager.
Meanwhile, midfielder Jack Rea will have an operation to fix his injured knee on Thursday.
