AFC Telford boosted by a fan-tastic backing

AFC Telford will be roared on by a capacity travelling army for their historic FA Cup showdown at Bristol City.

The Bucks are set to maximise their 1,000 allocation for Sunday's trip to Ashton Gate for the clash against the League One leaders.

The club, in its AFC guise, has never reached the second round of the competition before.

Liam Watson's men are struggling at the bottom of the Conference Premier but spirits are high for the magic of the Cup.

"It is great news that so many people are going but it has come as I expected," said Telford chairman Ian Dosser.

"Our supporters have been fantastic all season and we had great support in the last round at Basingstoke.

"It is absolutely fantastic support once again and the FA Cup is clearly a competition that has captured the imagination this year.

"Anything can happen in the FA Cup and I am sure that the support will be a huge boost for the team, the manager and all of us. It is fantastic support.

Bristol are the highest-ranked team in the competition before the Premier League and Championship clubs enter in round three.

Steve Cotterill's City were on an 18-match unbeaten run until they suffered back-to-back League One defeats last month. But they bounced back with a 3-0 victory at Peterborough last Friday.

Telford, who have won just once on the road this season, slumped to a lacklustre 2-0 reverse at Chester on Tuesday. The Bucks booked their money-spinning tie at Bristol with a 3-0 replay triumph over Spennymoor Town at home after a 2-2 tie first-time around.

"Of course Bristol City, with their position in League One, is a very attractive fixture," added Dosser.

"We have sold over 800, which is absolutely fantastic, and we are reaching a point where we expect all the tickets to sell out."
