AFC Telford closing in on loan for midfielder Karl Ledsham

AFC Telford are closing in on the loan signing of Lincoln City midfielder Karl Ledsham ahead of tomorrow's trip to table-topping Barnet.

Bucks boss Liam Watson is aiming to bring in up to three new signings to help combat a series of injuries, with a deal for Ledsham most imminent.

Watson was already missing injured skipper Steve Akrigg and midfielder Kristian Platt (both hamstring) before Sean Clancy and Mike Grogan were injured in Wednesday's 2-1 Conference Premier win over Altrincham.

Clancy suffered a broken collar bone and three broken ribs after a heavy landing while Mike Grogan injured his ankle and was forced off at half-time.

Watson said: "I'd like three in for the weekend and I am well down the way with bringing Karl in on loan from Lincoln.

"He'd give us height, lots of energy and goals. Karl is a central midfielder, and then obviously we want a left-back and I'd just like another player in the squad."

Ledsham, 26, has previous played for Watson when both were at Southport and has played 13 games for the Imps this season, scoring one goal.

Grogan is not expected to be out for long, but Clancy is facing a significant spell out of action.

Watson added that recalling the on-loan trio of Jordan Deacey (Bradford Park Avenue), Andy Owens (Stockport) and Wes Baynes (Colwyn Bay) to bolster numbers was not an option available to him.

Despite their injury problems, Watson's side will travel to Barnet in good form. The rock-bottom Bucks have lost just one of their last six games in all competitions.

And asked what his message to his troops was, he said: "Just keep doing what you have been doing.

"They have been giving me everything and we have to continue that."

Telford have already taken a point off Barnet this season, holding them to a 2-2 draw at the New Bucks Head in the reverse fixture.
