Wednesday's National Hunt meeting at Ludlow is likely to have to survive an inspection to defeat the cold snap.
The south Shropshire track is bidding to avoid a second successive abandoned fixture but has a light covering of snow and remains frozen in some parts.
Clerk of the course Bob Davies was due to assess conditions today and believes an official inspection is inevitable.
"We will have a look today but I think it's very likely that we will have an inspection at some point tomorrow just to let people know what the position is," he said.
A frozen track meant last Wednesday's meeting at Ludlow had to be postponed.
