Wolves midfielder Adlene Guedioura today vowed to be back playing in the Premier League this season as he insisted he will return stronger for his broken leg.
The 24-year-old was back at Compton yesterday with his entire left leg in plaster as he contemplated his four to six-month absence from the team after fracturing his tibia in Sunday's 2-1 derby defeat to Villa.
Guedioura, who was stretchered off after a challenge by midfielder Steve Sidwell, is already looking on the bright side, however.
"It depends on how my recovery goes but I hope to play again this season," said the Algeria international.
"I think I'll be stronger mentally and I'll work hard physically.
"What's happened is sad but I'm not down about it because I know I'll come back stronger.
"I've got time to work hard and when I come back I'll do my best to fight for Wolves again.
"We've got a really good medical staff here to help."
The midfielder bears no malice towards Sidwell. "I don't think he wanted to injure me he wanted to get the ball and it wasn't malicious," said Guedioura.
"I don't bear him any bad feelings he was trying to win the ball."
Guedioura, who is still suffering some pain, faces four weeks in plaster but won't need any surgery before beginning his rehabilitation. "It doesn't feel too bad I'm OK," he said.
"I have to look forward. I love football but now I've got to rest for the next few weeks."
And he revealed he has been inspired by Djibril Cisse, who made a full recovery after breaking fibula and tibia in a horrific accident in 2004.
"I look at someone like Djibril Cisse who's had two bad injuries and was out for six or seven months and now he's back playing again in Greece, so I have no worries," he said.
