Wolves will be without captain Jody Craddock when they return to Premier League action on Saturday against Blackburn.
The 34-year-old defender has been ruled out for at least the weekend and the following game against Fulham with a hamstring strain sustained in training.
But while frustrated by Craddock's injury, the niggle gives manager Mick McCarthy the chance to play what he said would have been his first-choice pairing this season — Christophe Berra and Michael Mancienne.
Berra only missed out but through an eve-of-season thigh injury and is now primed for a recall.
McCarthy said: "Jody's hurt his hamstring. He strained it during training last week and will be out for another week or so."
