The 35-year-old grabbed the second on the stroke of half-time in last night's 2-0 success over Notts County.

Peters had appealed to supporters to get behind Fortune-West in the build-up to the game, and saw the giant forward respond with an industrious performance.

"It was nice to get a start but the most important thing was to get the win," he said.

"We made a good start which is very important and managed to keep that tempo going throughout the first half.

"It was good for me to get a goal and hopefully that's something for supporters to hang their hat on because fans everywhere need that.

"I scored against Accrington but then didn't play for a while so we'll have to wait and see what happens. But I've won matches and scored goals at this level before so it's no fluke."

Peters was equally as delighted with the showing of the loan forward.

"Just call him Ronseal because Leo does exactly what it says on the tin," said the Town chief. "People have got to understand that he has done this before and I think everyone can see that he is a good option for us.

"He is not as quick or skillful as Derek Asamoah, but Derek's unlikely to win you a header on the back post."

Peters, however, is refusing to get carried away by a seven match unbeaten League Two run which has seen Town move into 11th in the table, 10 points behind seventh placed Wycombe with three games in hand.

"It's not an unbeaten run because we got beat by Bristol Rovers (in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy) a few games ago and they are in our division," he said.

"If you want me to look at the bigger picture, I just want us to get to 52 points as quickly as possible to guarantee we can't go down.

"All I'm thinking about is the Wrexham game and there's no point looking at the past."

Three interesting trialists were 'guesting' in this afternoon's reserve team trip to Huddersfield.

Topping the bill was Swindon's 27-year-old Australian Royce Brownlie, while he was joined by Blackburn youngsters Keith Barker and Gary Stopforth.

Neil Ashton was also set for a run out after missing last night's clash through illness.
