Organiser Chris Richards took to social media to celebrate the milestone.

He said: "From the successful funding meeting I had with Telford & Wrekin Council in November 2012, until January 1, 2019... Hasn't our little baby Parkrun grown!

"I'll never forget when they asked me: 'How many people do you expect to come along each week?', to which I replied: 'Based on towns of a similar size, I would estimate around 70-100 each week'.

"Maths has never been my strong point.

"I just want to reiterate how proud I am, of everyone who has made Telford Parkrun 'work' since 2012, by running, jogging, walking or volunteering. In particular, of course, our superstar event director Kim Fawke and her amazing family."
