The new weanling section has opened for business at Market Drayton Livestock Market.

Market manager Rob Lea recognised the need to provide an additional outlet for stock. The new section closes the gap between store cattle and calves, value adding to weanlings which proved to sell better through the calf ring.

The quality of stock on offer was very impressive with a suckler-bred heifer topping the market at £362. Sixty-five weanlings were entered and a complete clearance was experienced to the benefit of the vendors, with prices exceeding expectations.

Managing partner Bernie Hutchinson was overwhelmed by the interest generated, with numerous new faces packed into the ring to see how the trade developed.

Stock has already been entered for the next sale which will take place on Wednesday, November 22.

To take advantage of this new section and to purchase some top-quality weanlings (up to six months old) please contact Barbers at the livestock market to book stock into the next sale or provide us with your requirements.
