Oswestry man who assaulted policeman handed fine and unpaid work

A man who assaulted a policeman has been fined and ordered to do unpaid work.

Christopher Morris, aged 31, attacked the officer in Church Street, Chirk on August 11 this year.

Morris, of Fairview, Morda, Oswestry, pleaded guilty at Kidderminster Magistrates Court on Friday to assault by beating of an emergency worker and failing to surrender to bail, after missing a previous court hearing.

He was handed a 12-month community order including 120 hours of unpaid work, and fined £120. Morris must also pay £185 in prosecution costs.
