Davina Brawn and Caroline JonesSisters Caroline Jones and Davina Brawn have loved playing games since childhood. Now they aim to put that to good use by launching an innovative on-line games business today.

The range of 10 skill games available includes Su Doku, darts, basketball, jigsaws and nine-ball pool.

More games will be added later to the site, which is called uVme.

The games have been put through their paces by testers in several parts of the globe.

"The games are all relatively short, on average from two to 10 minutes, and are all tests of skill," explained Caroline, who lives near Shrewsbury.

"We thought all our Christmases and birthdays had come at once when we discovered we could play skill games online and get paid for it," she added.

"This wouldn't have happened five years ago. Broadband has made this possible," says Davina, who lives at Llandudno.

Caroline was as a psychometric tester, assessing ability and personality, before taking a career break.

"I loved what I was doing with behavioural processing but I decided I needed a new goal. I liked the idea of running my own business, with the flexibility that can give," she added.

Davina used to work in social services before a 10-year break.

"I needed a challenge, a new purpose and this is something with a fun element," she said.

The sisters grew up with a love of board games and recall many exciting Christmases of friendly competition at the family home in Newtown, Powys, where their father managed the local branch of WH Smith.

The internet has revolutionised such games for a new generation but Caroline insists they are not merely the preserve of the young and sees nothing unusual in two women in their 50s launching an internet games business.

"I'm not a teenager nor a computer nerd. I just love playing games and there are plenty of people of all ages who, I'm sure, are the same," she said.

"The added dimension of getting paid for something I enjoy is awesome."

Caroline added of the new business: "Davina and I are determined to grab this opportunity with both hands and run with it."
