Quita Brown, of Waterside Drive, lost her wedding ring four months ago and thought it must have been while clearing long grass in her garden.

Despite having spent hours searching, she couldn't find it and assumed it was lost forever.

But Mrs Brown then contacted North Staffs Metal Detecting Club.

Darrell Gleghorn, of Madeley in Staffordshire, spent an hour carefully sweeping the garden in the rain and found the ring.

Mrs Brown said: "I've been married for 48 years so you can see that the ring has great sentimental value.

"I am really grateful to Darrell for finding it."
