Councillors are being asked to vote for one of three cost cutting options, which include the removal of all the council's funding for the theatre and two others.

Last year the Hafren Theatre, which employs eight people, received a £139,500 grant.

After consultation council officers say they are against draconian cuts, which would almost certainly mean the closure of the theatres, the others in Brycheiniog and Ystradgynlais.

Instead councillors are being recommended to bring in phased savings of 50 per cent from next year, cutting £48,825 from the 2016/17 budget, a further £13,950 in 2016/17 and almost £7,000 in 2017/18.
