It had already been announced that Tim Brooke-Taylor – one of the stars of the 1970s TV comedy series The Goodies – was to star at the arts festival.

The festival is being held in the south Shropshire town throughout July and August.

The comedian and TV presenter, who hosts Animal Antics on BBC1, will be in conversation with former That's Life and In At The Deep End presenter Chris Serle at the festival on August 3.

He appeared in The Goodies with co-stars Graeme Garden and Bill Oddie.

Now others appearing have been confirmed, with the festival opening on July 27 with a performance at Concord College from The Cardinall's Musick, a vocal ensemble specialising in music from the 16th century.

An art exhibition featuring work from guest artists Neill Mapes and Jane Moller will open on July 29 at Church Stretton School.

The following day Hull Buddy – a Buddy Holly tribute – will perform from 7.30pm at the school. There are three other musical performances at the school over the course of the festival.

Saxophonist Anthony Brown, winner of the prestigious Haverhill Sinfonia Soloist competition last year, and pianist Leo Nicholson will perform on August 2 from 7.30pm.

Three days later, on August 5, guitar duo The Katona Twins will take the stage, while on August 6 the Frith Piano Quintet are due to perform.

Featuring leading players from the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, the concert will include Schubert's Trout Quintet.
