A Telford woman has been jailed for life for beating a man to death in a booze-fuelled attack before he was "disposed as refuse".

Zena Tinsley carried out a "violent and sustained" 10-minute assault on father-of-three Stephen Round as he lay helpless on the floor at a county flat on the day England were knocked out of the 2010 World Cup by Germany.

Shrewsbury Crown Court heard Tinsley, 28, of Boulton Grange, Randlay, Telford, along with James Haigh, 31, and Melissa Parkes, 22, carried on watching television after the attack while Mr Round lay dying on the floor.

The three then attempted to hide the 43-year-old's body, first in a cupboard at the flat in Church Street, St Georges, Telford, where the attack happened, and in a bin which was collected by workers.

Mr Round's body was discovered by workers at a landfill site near Granville Country Park on July 2 last year – five days after he was killed.

Tinsley, who admitted murder and perverting the course of justice, was yesterday told she would have to serve a minimum of 16 years before she could apply for parole.

Haigh and Parkes, who the court heard each punched Mr Round once in the attack but failed to stop Tinsley or call for medical help, both admitted manslaughter and perverting the course of justice.

Haigh, of Church Street, St Georges, was sentenced to a total of 12 years in prison and Parkes, also of Church Street, was jailed for 10 years in total.
