The hunt for a Shropshire woman missing in north Wales has been stepped up, with police issuing posters and leaflets as fears continue to grow for her safety.

Alison Manning, of Summerhill Gardens, Market Drayton, has not been seen since leaving a hotel in Llandudno on Friday night.

Now North Wales Police officers have distributed bilingual posters and leaflets throughout the seaside town in a bid to locate the 58-year-old.

Miss Manning was staying at the Risboro Hotel. She is believed to have left the premises at about 9.30pm and has not been seen since.

"We are hoping the posters and leaflets will help to jog people's memory and help us locate Alison," said Inspector Ian Verburg.

"Concern is mounting for Alison's safety and welfare and we are urging Alison herself or anyone who knows of her whereabouts to please get in touch."

Over the weekend searches were carried out in the area involving the Search and Rescue Dogs Association, the Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue Team and the North Wales Police helicopter.

Police said their searches had also focused on the Great Orme peninsula. She was last seen wearing a green or blue light raincoat, brown trousers and sandals, and was carrying a large cream coloured handbag.

She is about 5ft 1ins tall and has short blonde hair, which is greying slightly, and blue eyes. Officers described her as quite stocky.

Anybody who knows of her whereabouts is asked to call police on 0845 6071002.
