Bloor Homes Limited (North West) has applied to Shropshire Council to build 51 homes on agricultural land off Candle Lane, Woore, near Market Drayton.
It has also applied for permission to build 35 homes on the same piece of land in the hope officials favour at least one of the schemes.
Both schemes include landscaping and formation of new access and estate roads off Audlem Road.
There would be a mix of one, three, four and five-bedroom homes.
The two bids come after developer Wainhomes was refused permission to build 23 homes, a play area and new roads on the same site by the council's north planning committee in June.
The application had been recommended for approval but councillors bowed to public concerns over the scheme and turned the plan down following objections from Woore Parish Council and 24 residents.
A design and access statement in support of the latest bids states: "The development will facilitate the homogeneous growth of the village in a sympathetic manner."
A consultation period on the plans is due to end on October 26.
