A 33-year-old mother-of-three has died following a go-kart accident near her home in Powys.

Jackie Green, of Ffordd Y Cain, Llanfyllin, was seriously hurt when she crashed into a bollard close to her home. She was taken to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, but could not be saved.

Her friends today paid tribute to the full-time mum. James Jefferies, one of Jackie's best friends, said she had been in a petrol, motorised go-kart when the accident happened in Ffordd Y Cain.

He said: "She couldn't control it and it hit a bollard. The go-kart flipped over and she hit her head on the fence."

He said Jackie was mum to Sam, 15, Gavin, 14, and Libby, seven.

Mr Jefferies said: "Sam saw what happened. We rushed out and the go-kart was flipped over. I rang 999 and her partner, Rafal Arcicihowski turned the kart over.

"It was too late, there was nothing we could do.

"Her children are devastated, her children were the world to her."

Mr Jefferies said Jackie was a popular woman.

"I loved her to bits, everyone loved her, she was great," he said.

"She had lived here almost all her life, although she lived in Ellesmere Port for a bit."

Shirley Parks, another of Jackie's closest friends, said: "I have known her all her life. All her friends will miss her lots. She was well loved. She went to the local primary and high schools. She enjoyed life."

Today floral tributes and messages lay at the scene. One tribute said: "Goodbye Jackie, we will miss you, love Ryan."

Police have now launched an investigation into the accident, which happened on Friday, at about 10pm.

A Dyfed-Powys Police spokesman said: "The incident occurred on the evening of October 31 in Ffordd Y Cain, Llanfyllin.
