Jen Wright and her Laura Ashley wedding dressA woman from the Powys and Shropshire border is set to appear on the BBC's Antiques Roadshow with her wedding dress - the first to be made by Laura Ashley.

Jen Wright, of Llanymynech, went along to the filming of the programme at Powis Castle in June.

She said: "My sister persuaded me to take my Laura Ashley wedding dress. They were very interested because it was the first she ever made.

"I was married in 1975. At the time we all loved Laura Ashley and we all had Laura Ashley dresses. I bought three bridesmaids' dresses and was looking for a cream dress to match, but couldn't find one.

"My brother-in-law Bruce, who was head chemist in the Carno factory, mentioned to Laura that I was looking for a dress. At the time she didn't make wedding dresses but she said she had a roll of material and would make me a dress."

Mrs Wright was tight-lipped over how much it was valued at.

The Antiques Roadshow is on BBC 1 on Sunday at 8pm.
