An open-air production is being planned for Market Drayton, involving a cast of about 30 and an assortment of animals.
Cheshire Street in Market Drayton will be transformed as part of the event, dubbed Buttercross to Bethlehem on December 18 at 4.30pm.
The event is organised by Churches Together.
The Rev Ruth Jeffries, from the town's Methodist church, said: "We want to tell the Christmas story in the town to give something for the community and to grab people's attention. We have got horses, a donkey and some cattle."
