Dunston, a thick tailed bush baby will soon be arriving at Telford Exotic Zoo in Donnington.

Dunston was brought to the UK as part of the UK pet trade, which resulted in him living in a cage in someone's front room.

He was then fed the same food as his owners, which caused him to become overweight along with other health problems.

Staff at the zoo have been working hard to bring Dunston to Telford, where he will continue his rehabilitation and hopefully start to live more like a bush baby should.

Scott Adams, director of Telford Exotic Zoo, said: "We have made arrangements for Dunston to come to Telford and we are busy getting ready for his arrival.

"We plan to settle him in and quarantine him at Exotic Zoo then in the summer all being well we hope to move time out partner wildlife park Lakeside Animal Park in Priorslee.

"Once he's there he have more space, tree's as well as the correct diet, which he desperately needs to lead a happy and healthy life."

Dunston has also undergone an operation to remove a fat lump, which was caused by his bad health.

Scott is also encouraging people to sponsor Dunston, and as a thank you Exotic Zoo, which is normally closed to the public, will open its doors for one day only.

"We want people to get involved in helping us rescue Dunston the Bush baby and the adoption scheme is a great idea, for a gift, or even a treat for your self," he said.

"People will get a certificate and a Bushbaby fact file so its also educational and helps raise awareness.

"But for the people who do help we wanted to give them a special gift to say thank you, so we are going to open up for a very special one off open day.

"Its going to be very interactive and engaging and a chance to see what goes on at Exotic Zoo, which is usually closed to the public.

"For every adoption package brought you get two tickets to the open day."

The adoption package includes two tickets and costs £30. For more information call (01952) 603523.
