That result just about keeps their UniBond League premier division title hopes alive, with leaders Witton conceding a last minute equaliser in a 4-4 draw with relegated Grantham, and second-placed Burscough held to a goalless draw at Ossett Town.
"I thought it was a brave performance," he said. "Right from the start we gave it a go - we were on the front foot, we tried to commit people, we attacked them.
"I think that for all the possession though, we didn't create enough chances. We weren't quite 'at it' up front. I don't think things happened for Fozzie (Steve Foster), Birchy (Gary Birch) and Justin (Marsden).
"At any other time of the season I think you'd be happy with the point and the performance, but we really needed all three.
"It's probably the best we've played for a while though, and we just need a bit more of a killer instinct."
The Telford No 2 had praise for goalscorer Rodgers, and left-winger Lee Chilton, who he hailed as "excellent" and "full of energy".
And he was delighted by skipper Steve Pope, who lasted almost 70 minutes in his first competitive outing since snapping his cruciate ligament back in July.
"I'm relieved, because we went against the physio's advice," he revealed. "Rudy (Farquharson) is a top physio, and if he says he's not fit then really he shouldn't play. But, because of the injuries and suspensions, I don't feel we had a lot of choice. He's come through it and he's had no after effects.
"He got tired and gave us the signal that he needed to come off, but it's great to have him back."
