'The Count' - who is based in Aqueduct - was playing in his first BDO tournament since returning last month, after two years playing for the PDC.

The two-time BDO world champion was aiming for a spot in the first Euro Sport televised stages but lost in the last leg, 4-3, to Lee Williams.

Hankey had opened his day at the Blackpool Tower with a 4-0 whitewash of Andy Holmes in Group Five, before defeating Marek Polach 4-2.

He dropped just a leg beating Ian Walters 4-1 before bowing out to eventual group winner Williams, ending his challenge in the competition.
