Caersws' struggles continue after defeat in seven goal thriller

Caersws' miserable start to the Cymru North season continued as their latest defeat has left them sitting second bottom of the table with just one win from the first 12 league games.

Craig Williams' side have just six points on the board and are three ahead of basement side Penrhyncoch - and they were left reeling after coming out on the wrong side of a 4-3 thriller at Buckley Town on Saturday.

Buckley were in front on 25 minutes as Connor Littler set up former Newtown and Guilsfield midfielder Ben Guest for the opening goal.

Sws looked to have brought themselves back on level terms at the break - as Jake Humphreys set Max McLaughlin up for an equaliser four minutes before half time.

But they were behind against just two minutes later when Liam Ellis fired the home side into a half time lead.

That lead was then doubled just after the hour mark, when Littler set up Aled Bellis to make it 3-1.

As it had done in the first half the game flew wide open against as Humphreys was again the provider for Ashley Harries and he made it 3-2 with 21 minutes left on the clock.

However, within two minutes of that goal Littler turned from assister to scorer to make it 4-2 and leave Sws staring at another defeat.

Harry Cottam did pull another back five minutes into added on time - but Sws were left to face another loss.

Things don't get any easier this week as they host Gresford Athletic - before a huge trip to basement side Penrhyncoch on November 14.

Guilsfield are on the charge and find themselves fifth in the table behind the Cymru North big hitters - thanks to a comfortable 3-0 win at home to Flint Mountain.

Gavin Allen's side made it six league games unbeaten at Clos Mytton - with the victory leaving them sitting just seven points behind fourth placed Newtown.

They were in front after just eight minutes in Montgomeryshire as Danny Reid turned through his own net.

They held the lead at the break - before extending it just four minutes after the restart.

Striker Iwan Matthews set up Adam Hailes and he put the Guils in a commanding position.

And the scoring was all completed and wrapped up 22 minutes before the end of the game - as Matthews picked up his second assist of the day as he set up Sam Flory to make it three.

The Guils will be looking to build on that with a home clash against Holyhead Hotspur next weekend - before a tough trip to Llandudno on November 15.

The season doesn't get any easier for bottom side Penrhyncoch as they were beaten 3-1 at Rhyl.

Gari Lewis' side are still waiting for their first win of the season and are a run of five straight defeats.

They were 2-0 down inside 12 minutes as Jack Perry scored an early double for the Lilywhites at Belle Vue and he should have had an 18 minute hat-trick but he missed a penalty.

Lewis Hodson then put the game beyond any sort of double early into the second half.

Penrhyn continued to battle and half a go - but all they could muster was a consolation from Niall Coleridge who netted a minute into added time - as the Roosters wait for a league win goes on.
