Conor Coady 'gutted' Wolves run has come so late
Conor Coady admits he is 'gutted' Wolves' stunning run of form has come so late in the season but is focused on finishing as high as they can.
The midfielder-turned-right back said Wolves are 'buzzing' over their current hot-streak but will continue looking over their shoulders until they are mathematically safe from the drop.
Wolves have won their last five Championship matches after a horror spell in February and early March which saw them lose five and draw one of the preceding six.
And Coady said the focus is now on extending their winning run as far as they can to help start next season on a high.
"We want to keep on building momentum and keep climbing away from that drop zone and that's what we're doing at the minute," he said. "Until we're mathematically safe, we're always looking to be as far away from the bottom three as possible.
"All we can do is carry on what we're doing, carry on winning games – the boys in the changing room have been buzzing about this run.
"They are saying, 'Can we finish here or there?' It's up to us to keep on doing that, to keep on entertaining the fans, to keep on scoring goals, keep on winning games."
The 24-year-old added: "I'm a little bit gutted that this run didn't happen earlier in the season, I think all of the boys are. We could have had a right kick-on."
Meanwhile, Wolves will give Helder Costa as much time as possible to recover in time for tomorrow's clash with Bristol City after the £13million record signing limped off during the warm up ahead of Tuesday's 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest at Molineux with an ankle problem.
Costa will have a late fitness test ahead of the Ashton Gate trip, as will Carl Ikeme who has missed the last two matches with a hamstring injury.
Ikeme picked up the injury during the international break and Andy Lonergan has deputised. The Wolves boss said: "He was still really struggling with it, so how he's going to be on Saturday I don't know.
"Lonergan has been excellent. We'll have to wait and see how Carl is."
