Why Wolves' owners sacked Kenny Jackett
Fosun's Jeff Shi made the decision to sack Kenny Jackett after a meeting with the ex-Wolves boss made him unsure he was the right man for the job.
Last Monday Shi gave initial support for Jackett, suggesting he would stay on as boss.
By Friday Jackett had been sacked. Shi said: "In the last week I was thinking about it.
"In the last press conference I said I would support Kenny because he is here.
"But I had another talk with Kenny, we talked about the future of him and I said I'm not so sure now.
"We needed some time to decide.
"I told him the truth. The time is approaching and we had to make the decision. I had to make it very quickly.
"Last weekend so many things happened. We have to reshape the team and the club and go into the new season."
Meanwhile Walter Zenga hopes that Rob Edwards – who is to stay at Wolves as a coach – will in the future speak about him in such glowing terms as he did Kenny Jackett.
Edwards paid tribute to Jackett after the 4-0 defeat to Swansea on Saturday, speaking of his admiration for the ex-boss and assistant Joe Gallen.
Zenga said: "I read the interview with Rob Edwards about the game and he was talking with his heart about the coach that has left. I told him this morning, 'I want to congratulate you because you spoke with your heart.
"I would like that one day you're going to talk (like) this about me'."
Jez Moxey yesterday added on Jackett and Gallen: "They both performed exceptionally well for us during their three-year tenure and behaved with great dignity during the last month or two, which has been quite tough on everybody."
