David Edwards closes in on Wolves comeback
Wolves will welcome David Edwards back into the fold after more than two months out – and boss Kenny Jackett understands why supporters are frustrated.
Jackett's team were booed off at the end of Saturday's dull 0-0 draw with Ipswich, after fans had chanted "boring" during the game.
The Wolves boss hopes Edwards – who may make a shock return to the squad for tonight's trip to MK Dons where they will be backed by 1,300 travelling fans – will give the team a big boost.
And he admitted he could sympathise with supporters, as he himself was also frustrated.
"I'm scratching my head slightly as to why we couldn't get going," he said of Saturday's stalemate.
"I totally understand (the frustration). I see a good attendance, and they'll react from what they see on the pitch.
"That frustration is shared by me. And that can change only by performances on the field.
"As the game's going on, it's tight at the start but there's an expectancy that it can open up, particularly in that second period attacking our main end (the South Bank).
"The big thing is the supporters come out in their numbers – the MK Dons game is another good example and 1,300 is a fantastic attendance.
"The backing's been good and the numbers have been good."
Edwards has been sidelined since the 1-1 draw at QPR on January 23 with a broken foot.
Jackett was deciding this morning whether Edwards would return tonight or on Saturday, against Blackburn at Molineux.
And he paid tribute to the Welshman, who has returned two weeks earlier than first expected.
"It's a credit to him and how much dedication he's got to the sport," Jackett said.
"He's got Wales to think of as well and he's very determined, he's work hard and got back quicker than expected."
Mike Williamson remains sidelined for at least another week.
The 32-year-old defender is being eased back after suffering complications from his initial hamstring injury.
