Jed Wallace bulking up for Wolves role

A bulked-up Jed Wallace has been backed to make an impact as he looks to get his Wolves career back on track.

Wolves boss Kenny Jackett revealed the 21-year-old is set to feature in gold and black for the first time in five months tomorrow.

And Wallace has put on almost a stone in weight in a bid to better cope with the physical nature of the Championship.

He was recalled early from a productive two-month loan spell at Millwall this week and goes into the squad for tomorrow's trip to table-topping Burnley.

And Jackett wants Wolves to benefit from the form and confidence Wallace accrued from his Lions move.

The head coach said: "I feel he's going to be better equipped for the Championship, with both power and confidence, and with getting into a rhythm.

"Hopefully, now he can transmit that confidence into the Championship. Me bringing him back, I want to be able to give him the opportunity to play well in a Wolves shirt.

"He certainly has the ability. He's got physically strong and is five kilos heavier now than when he signed in the summer."

Wallace has started just three league games for Wolves since moving from League Two side Portsmouth last summer, all on the left wing.

He can also play in a 'No 10' role, but for Millwall he played on the right wing in a 4-4-2, which Jackett feels is the position he can thrive in for Wolves.

He said: "We feel it's probably his most natural (position). Wide right is where he's had recent experience and been able to build his confidence.

"Bridging the gap from League Two to the Championship has been helped by a spell at the top end of League One. Hopefully, now he can make a good impact here."

Wolves have no fresh injury concerns for the Turf Moor clash. Michal Zyro is pushing for a start after consecutive 45 minute appearances from the bench.
