Wolves took winger out of the firing line

Wolves boss Kenny Jackett has admitted he took Rajiv van La Parra out of the firing line when dropping the winger.

The Dutchman didn't even make the bench for Saturday's 2-1 over Derby, after being booed by his own fans during the defeat at Brentford five days earlier.

Van La Parra had angered supporters with an inflammatory comment on social media which referenced his wages.

Supporters slammed him as 'immature' and 'naive' for making the remark and he was booed in the second-half of the 3-0 Brentford loss, as well as when he was substituted.

Jackett said of taking van La Parra out of the firing line: "It was part of my thinking."

"I didn't think it was the right thing to involve him and to play him, so I decided to leave him right out.

"We'll just have to see how things settle down now going forward, but it was part of my thinking for Saturday's game."

Van La Parra trained with the first team as usual yesterday and Jackett said the door was far from closed on the 24-year-old.

And he'll assessed on a game by game basis how van La Parra is eased back into action.

The Wolves boss added: "He's with us and training, he trained well on Monday. If I feel it's right to use Rajiv van La Parra, I will.

"I didn't feel it was the right thing to use him on Saturday. We'll just have to assess it now as the time goes on.

"He's a Wolves player and we'll just have to assess it and see how I feel going into Middlesbrough, Bristol City and then a local derby against Birmingham."

Meanwhile, Tommy Rowe was on target as Wolves Under-21s drew 1-1 with Arsenal last night.

The midfielder cancelled out Donyen Malen's strike at Boreham Wood with both goals in the opening 18 minutes.

Jack Price, Kortney Hause, Sylvain Deslandes, Liam McAlinden and Bright Enobakhare featured for Scott Sellars' side.
