Kenny Jackett: Wolves can make the play-offs
Boss Kenny Jackett believes Wolves can still make the play-offs – and called for the dynamics of the team to change in the post-Benik Afobe era.
Jackett's Wolves were hosting Cardiff City today looking to close the gap to the top six, after winning four league games in a row.
That run seems to have allayed any relegation fears, just weeks after Jackett admitted Wolves were looking over their shoulders at the bottom three.
And with a good run of form the play-offs are now in reach.
Jackett said: "Have we got a chance? Yes, we have.
"We need to put a really good run together to do that, but its not something we're talking about necessarily.
"There's an overall at Wolves where our aspiration and our goal and mine personally is to close that gap in the table towards the top teams, or be one of the top teams, that is where we want to be.
"We haven't talked week to week or game to game about that, just about trying to always improve, be the best side we can be, and then work our a way of building on what we've done and not taking away."
Jackett and co continue to hunt for Afobe's replacement, and are believed to have made an inquiry for Swansea City forward Eder.
The Portuguese international moved to the Welsh club in the summer for around £5m after scoring regularly in the Portuguese top flight.
However the powerful 6ft 3in striker, aged 28, has yet to net for the Swans in 12 Premier League appearances (10 from the bench) and the Premier League side may be willing to let him go.
Jackett said of replacing Afobe: "I've said to the players, football clubs move on. The dynamics of the team must change, they have to. Different strengths have to come out, you have to evolve a new team and a different way of winning."
