Afobe poised to leave Wolves for Bournemouth
Wolves ace Benik Afobe is believed to be on the brink of a £12 million move to Bournemouth.
The Cherries want to make the star striker their record signing – and with Wolves owner Steve Morgan selling the club they appear willing to sell.
The move is thought to be close and may even be completed this weekend.
Wolves rejected a bid of £10million from Norwich City in the summer and were adamant Afobe wouldn't be sold this season.
But with Morgan on his way out they need funds to re-invest in the team this January.
It would be a huge gamble to sell their prized asset – and will no doubt anger fans after that summer promise of keeping Afobe.
Afobe was thought to be keen on a move to Norwich in August but Morgan personally intervened to reject three bids from the Canaries.
Eddie Howe's Bournemouth are without injured striker Callum Wilson for the season – ironically a player once courted by Wolves. And it seems the pair will be lining up together next season.
Ex-Wolves striker Don Goodman believes the club should consider selling Afobe, who is also on Crystal Palace's radar.
Goodman, who played more than 100 games in gold and black, said: "He has suffered badly with the events of last summer's transfer window when he saw a terrific opportunity to go and play in the Premier League disappear. Psychologically he didn't handle it as well as he would have hoped and he was clearly affected by it.
"He hasn't hit the heights this season but he is a player who will score you goals and there are a lot of clubs, particularly in the bottom half of the Premier League, who need jobs."
Bolton starlet Zach Clough is the latest name to be linked with Wolves.
The striker has been courted by Premier League clubs but with Bolton having a fire sale to raise £2million to pay a tax bill in the next two weeks, they are selling players in a rush.
